"Any evening you can walk into the Radiant Radish, the newest Los Angeles health food store, and find a tall guy in his 20s behind the cash register. He speaks in soft, friendly terms about Sparkletts water and Loma Linda meat substitutes. You'd never dream he's responsible for record sales totaling more than 43 million, so far." - Jack Rieley on Brian Wilson, Rolling Stone, September 1970
"The Beach Boys are moving into their classical period; a phase of their career where the musical direction is clearly established. I fully believe Brian and his brothers are about to usher 'lowly' pop music into an unprecedented realm of respect and achievement" - Fusion, January 1972
This is undoubtedly my single favorite album of all time. It feels like such a perfect culmination of all the themes and ideas Fleet Foxes has been working with since 2008. It answers many of the questions found on both Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up, and represents an incredible maturation and growth in Robin Pecknold's perspective. Their other albums are certainly masterpieces, but this, in my opinion, is their magnum opus. I doubt it will be recognized as such in its time. isaiah_stuart
